Fast-Food Chain Creates Braille Burgers To Help Blind ‘See’ Food
To let people who are visually impaired know that South African fast-food chain Wimpy offered menus in Braille in all its restaurants, advertising agency MetropolitanRepublic South Africa created 15 ‘Braille burgers’ as an ad campaign.
The company had its chef meticulously place sesame seeds on top of 15 burger buns, so that the seeds spelled out Braille messages, such as “100% pure beef burger made for you”.
Wimpy then brought the burgers to three institutions for the blind, and gave the burgers to 15 visually-handicapped people.
“For people who use their hands as their eyes, this was the first time they could do more than just taste their food… they could see it,” the ad wrote.
